Experiencing Pranakriya Yoga
w/ Yoganand Michael Carroll

When: Thursday August 21st - Sunday August 24th

Where: Stillpoint Yoga Studios

Hatha Yoga was developed in ancient times primarily as a method of spiritual attunement and spiritual growth. Over recent years, the focus has shifted to yoga’s tremendous powers to heal the body and mind. In this weekend workshop we will explore Hatha Yoga, primarily as a means to spiritual transformation.

"Asana, Pranayama & Meditation "

Thurs, August 21st 6:30-9:30pm
Cost: $50
In Ancient times yoga was pranayama based and asanas were simple positions that supported specific pranayamas. Pranakriya Yoga incorporates a strong focus on Pranayama to enhance asana practice. In this session we will learn some of the foundational principles of advanced Pranayama and explore them in an internal intermediate level asana class.

Pranayama and asana fill the body with energy. When the body is full of energy the ego mind dissolves into ecstasy.

"Bringing Spirit into your Yoga Practice"

Fri, August 22nd 6:30-9:30pm
Cost: $50
A short talk on Hatha Yoga Spirituality and transformation followed by a

2-hour mixed levels class illustrating principles from the talk.

Learn techniques that can enrich any style of yoga practice:

  • Become more sensitive, to your practice, on your mat.
  • Recognize transformations waiting to happen.
  • Learn to see a truth beyond ego, desire and fear.

"Accessing Altered States of Conscioussness through Yoga"

Sat, August 23rd 11:30-7:00pm
Cost: $100
We will practice simple and intermediate level postures, pranayama techniques (breathing exercises) and yoga meditations, to see how raising the level of biological energy in the body can change perception and influence self-esteem. We will look at yoga’s ability to generate altered states of consciousness and the challenge of learning from those altered states and integrating them into our lives.

"Bandhas as a Transformational Technique."

Sun, August 24th 11:30-7:00pm
Cost: $100
The bandhas, or locks, are taught in many Yoga traditions as inner contractions that stabilize the body in asana practice. Many students find that during or after practicing the locks they may feel grounded, strong or spiritually attuned. Some teachers may acknowledge these “deeper” effects but few can explain them or tell the student how to grow or increase these effects.

In the Tantric Hatha Yoga traditions, the bandhas were integral components of an inner process whose purpose was transformation of the self at the deepest level. The locks opened and channeled currents of energy that could change the functioning of the practitioner’s nervous system. A change in the nervous system caused a change in perception. A change in perception led to a change in identity that left the practitioners free to be who they really were.

Come and explore The Bandhas as they were used in ancient times and enrich your modern practice. Learn the inner practices of the ancient yogis that led them to enlightenment and see how their enlightenment might be available to us.

Program will include:

  • Instruction in original approach to bandha techniques
  • Instruction in asana and advanced pranayama incorporating bandha
  • Discussion on integrating and enhancing/moderating effects of techniques the ancient yogis considered too powerful for householder students
