Yoga and Mindfulness for Pre & Post Menopause

Menopause or pre-menopause?? Not me, I’m way too young!! Most of us don’t want to think about getting older and all the things that suggests. And for most of us pre-menopause, or perimenopause, begins earlier than you might think. For some it can be as early as some time in your 30’s, although some time in your 40’s is more common. The list of signs and symptoms is longer than most women realize and are impacted by other health factors, so it’s easy not to see and understand that this important transition may be arriving. Because every woman is unique and most of us won’t experience textbook symptoms and because sometimes doctors aren’t the best at understanding and supporting us wholistically, it’s important for us to know what to expect and then to pay attention to our own bodies and learn what is best for ourselves. This workshop will go over what is happening in the body, but more importantly focus on what you can do to develop an understanding of your body and your needs. What you can do to manage the challenges and how yoga and mindfulness can help you feel your best.
What to expect:
• Discussion: Focus on more fully understanding the major and minor symptoms and their impact not just on menopause, but on aging.
• Practice: Poses that directly impact adrenal system, as well as strength-building and restorative poses which are important for the body as it changes and to address stress.
• Meditation: A key component for lowering stress, combined with simple pranayama.
